Axe Making 2 day (Forge + Handle craft)
Ever wanted to craft your very own genuine functional axe? This is the experience for you!🪓
Service Description
Whether you're re-enacting Vikings or Mountain Men, living out your fantasy life, or just enjoy crafting awesome things, this weekend promises to be an experience you'll never forget - and you'll take home an epic axe to prove it!🪓 Situated in a carefully managed woodland slice of heaven, we will closely guide you through all the main steps in crafting your own wood-chopping, battle-ready axe⚒️ Starting with the raw materials, you'll forge your axe head to shape, then move on to sharpening. Next, you'll carve out your handle and shape it to your axe head, craft a wedge for it, and 'hang' your axe together the traditional way. Then, the finishing touches - all in a weekend!✨ Alongside the workshop you can enjoy the serene wilderness that surrounds us, relax by the campfire (subject to weather conditions), and if you'd rather sleep under the stars then you can camp out with us too! The sessions will run from 9am-5pm both days, and our experienced team will be on-hand throughout the evening and early morning for any extra guidance or support. We have a very hands-on approach for our participants' learning, ensuring you will acquire as much skill as you are able through practice and development🪚 Included in the price is hot tea/coffee and a campfire cooked lunch on the Saturday and Sunday. The menu will include one meat option and one vegetarian option only, if it does not suit your diet then please bring your own lunch. Ages 8+, all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Guardians and carers go free unless wanting their own set of materials and lunch. Bring your own camping setup if you plan to camp. Further details on the session will be sent out to participants once booked prior to the session dates. SCHEDULE 9am - 6pm Day 1 with evening available for supervised crafting. Arrival any time before 9am permitted, message if Friday arrival and camping is required. 9am - 6pm Day 2. The booking will say 1 day 9hrs, ignore this as it is for calendar purposes only. Join us for an experience you will truly never forget🕯️ Disclaimer: although we provide all the necessary supervision and equipment, operating a forge is a high-risk activity with high temperatures and physically demanding activity. There is a realistic chance of minor burns from long exposure to the heat, although we do everything we can to minimise this risk, including hydration breaks.
