Service Description

This 2-day workshop will take you from a seasoned wood stave to a tillered and strung ready-to-use longbow or flatbow (your choice)!🏹 Immerse yourself in the timeless art of crafting your own self-bow in the style of a longbow or flatbow in our hands-on, 2-day workshop set amidst the serene beauty of nature. This unique experience is designed for both beginners and enthusiasts who are eager to learn the traditional methods of bow making and bowstring crafting using only hand tools. 🦉Guided by experienced craftsmen who will share their knowledge and passion for traditional bow making, you will gain the skills needed to create a unique, functional and beautiful bow! ⚒️Experience the satisfaction of working with classic hand tools such as axes, drawknives, spokeshaves, and rasps. Each tool is carefully selected to give you an authentic crafting experience, connecting you to centuries-old techniques. 🏕️Our workshop takes place in a carefully managed private woodland, allowing you to craft your bow surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. The fresh air and natural light provide the perfect backdrop for calm, creativity and learning. 🏹With a focus on practical, hands-on instruction, you'll gain confidence and proficiency in using each tool and technique. Our small class sizes ensure personalized attention, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Alongside the workshop you can enjoy the serene wilderness that surrounds us, relax by the campfire (subject to weather conditions), and if you'd rather sleep under the stars then you can camp out with us too! The sessions will run from 9am-5pm both days (ignore the duration that the booking calendar displays), and our experienced team will be on-hand throughout the evening and early morning for any extra guidance or support. We have a very hands-on approach for our participants' learning, ensuring you will acquire as much skill as you are able through practice and development🪚 Included in the price is hot tea/coffee and a campfire cooked lunch on the Saturday and Sunday. The menu will include one meat option and one vegetarian option only, if it does not suit your diet then please bring your own lunch. Ages 8+, all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Guardians and carers go free unless wanting their own set of materials and lunch. Bring your own camping setup if you plan to camp. Further details on the session will be sent out to participants once booked.
